Clara was born in Ottawa, Ontario in the year 1994. Her mother owned an online toll painting company that shipped various artistic materials world-wide. Being surrounded by a virtually unlimited source of art supplies from an early age laid the foundation for a deep love of making art every day, a practice she has carried with her into adulthood.
She participated in various art programs throughout high school and college, worked in art stores as a retail associate and framer; but found stability in a career with the federal government. This has provided her with the ability to pursue art consistently outside of working hours.
Over time, she has had the opportunity to develop unique styles, which has always been of the utmost importance to her. Her practice has included a 100 oil-painting portrait challenge; portraits of women with skeletal bodies; an assortment of watercolor paintings derived from hand-written prompts; monsters of all shape and size; and more recently, French pastries — a manifestation of her dream of one day painting somewhere in France.
When she is not creating from pure intuition, she studies new painting methods by copying works by Claude Monet. His Impressionist pieces continually inspire her use of colour and abstraction, with the goal of creating works built purely through colour.
Beyond imagination, whimsy, experimentation, and her love of traditional techniques inspired by the Old Masters, she continues to grow and establish herself as a professional artist through ongoing exploration and dedication to her practice.
